At Charis counselling & Training Academy (CCTA). You are placed at the centre of our course which means you will be given the opportunity to plan your own learning Journey with your Tutor’s guidance while focusing on your specific needs. 

Free Counselling Taster Courses

This is a programme for novice. It is an introductory course for people who have no previous knowledge on what counselling is about. We want you to come on a journey with us to learn about yourself. There is no qualification needed to attend our taster course. All you need to do is call us to establish your suitability. 

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

This course is CPCAB level 2 in Counselling Skills and will comprise experiential learning throughout of the basic counselling skills of active listening.  The skills of the reflecting feelings, paraphrasing, asking open and closed questions, utilising silence, and using relational immediacy will be introduced throughout the courses and learners will work in role play trads to practice their use of skills.  Learners will be encouraged to reflect upon their own development and to provide evidence in their learning journal of their empathic capability and awareness of difference.  An assessment form and an interview will be held to assess the suitability of all learners for this course. The qualification does not qualify you to be a counsellor on its own, however it does provide an ideal opportunity to develop counselling skills as a skilled helper, which can be useful in a wide range
of situations.

This course is runs on a weekly basis every Saturday from 10am -1.30pm 

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

This course is CPCAB Level 3 in Counselling Studies and for those who have completed an approved level 2 course who want to take the next step in training to further their studies in counselling. It is for those who want to learn more about counselling theory, ethics, and mental health. The qualification leads to employment and increases employability for those whose role is to support others in sectors such as health and social care work. The qualification can also lead to progression to Level 4 Counselling qualification. The overall assessment is carried out on an ongoing basis with a portfolio of work, observations of practice and an externally assessed written paper. An assessment form and an interview will be held to assess the suitability of all learners for this course.

This course is runs on a weekly basis every Saturday from 2pm -5.30pm 

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4).
Integrative Pathway

The Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative Pathway) offered by Charis Counselling & Training Academy is the beginning of your journey to becoming a professional counsellor. It is a two-year journey that you will find both worthwhile and fulfilling therefore we encourage you to fully commit to the learning experience.

Kindly note you must have passed a level 3 Qualification in Counselling Studies to apply for a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

This two-year part-time qualification gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context in both health care and non-medical settings.

Successful completion of this course means you will be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service – initially within the context of an agency’s service framework but later (with experience and support from the supervisor, or by completing PC-L5 or its equivalent) may progress to independent practice. The course will be delivered in a blended way offline and face to face in order to enable our learners to be well rounded. A Saturday course from 9.30am -5.30pm giving our learners the opportunity of a serene atmosphere of working together in a diverse setting where they share their skills and experience to support each other while including various workshop that would develop their learning.

The core model of this course is integrative, integrating the three main approaches of counselling, Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Schools of thought. You will draw on Gerard Egan’s, The skilled as a structured model for integration along with Petruska Clarkson’s 5 Relationship Model. Counselling Model would also be looked at in terms of their social and political contexts and working in multi modal teams. 

At Charis Counselling & Training Academy we believe that any ethical and worthwhile counselling training must include knowledge, skills client work, personal and professional development, attention to group process and an opportunity to reflect on each component for trainees to move towards developing their own coherent philosophy and practice of counselling.

The course aims and objectives: 

This course will enable learners to become competent, ethical, humane and reflective counselling practitioners who ar ready to practice. 

You will develop a seamless, yet fully aware and responsive approach integrative counselling.

Develop learners intra and interpersonal awareness.

Provide substantial counselling skills practice, which will enable learners to become aware of how their own values and experiences impact on the counselling process. 

Increase learners’ awareness of power and oppression in relationship and work towards acknowledging and accepting difference and diversity.

Deepens learners understanding and commitment to the NCPS’s Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions. 

Enable learners to make the most of supervision and to appreciate its importance as an integral part of ongoing practice

Inspire learners to commit to ongoing personal and professional development throughout their lives.

Enhance each participant’s ability to work in and with groups.

Develop counsellors who can self-assess, and peer assess.

Progression route after the course:

It can also lead to progression onto other qualifications and training in order to become an independent practitioner or work in a specialist area. Courses may include the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People or the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory.

TWO OPTIONS OF COURSE TIMES: 

1st OPTION:

The Level 4 Diploma course runs on a weekly basis every Friday from 5pm - 9pm & once on Saturday from 10am - 4pm

2nd OPTION:

Student can choose to join the Saturday class on weekly basis from 10am - 4pm.
